Recovery Continues After Treatment

Recovery continues long after a formal treatment program ends. Returning to everyday responsibilities can bring new experiences, relationships, and challenges that may not have been present during treatment. Staying connected with an alumni community can provide a familiar place to reconnect with people who share an understanding of the work involved in recovery.

The alumni program is also an opportunity to maintain relationships formed during treatment. Former clients can remain part of a community where their experiences are respected, and their accomplishments can be recognized.

About Our Alumni Program

The alumni program is intended for people who have completed treatment through our services and want to remain connected after leaving care. Alumni come from different backgrounds and may have received treatment for different substance use or mental health concerns, but they share the experience of having taken steps toward recovery.

There is no single way to participate. Some alumni may attend events regularly, while others may connect occasionally. What matters is having the opportunity to remain part of a community after formal treatment has ended.

Alumni Events and Activities

Alumni involvement can take different forms depending on the opportunities available through Newton Recovery Center. Our goal is to keep former clients connected with one another and with the broader recovery community.

Alumni activities and opportunities may include:

Alumni Events

Alumni have opportunities to gather with other former clients and take part in activities and events that foster connection beyond the treatment setting.

Peer Connection

Staying connected with peers can provide a sense of familiarity with people who understand the challenges and experiences that can come with addiction and recovery.

Community

The alumni program offers a way to remain part of a community of people who have shared the experience of receiving treatment and working toward recovery.

Celebrating Milestones

Alumni can celebrate important accomplishments and personal milestones with others who understand the significance of each step forward.

Continued Connection

Staying involved allows former clients to maintain relationships and connections developed during treatment even after their formal program has ended.

Staying Connected to the Recovery Community

For some people, staying connected after treatment can make the transition back into everyday life feel less isolating. An alumni community can offer opportunities to spend time with others who understand the challenges of maintaining recovery while managing work, family, relationships, and other responsibilities.

Alumni involvement can also be a reminder of how far you have come. Recovery is not always a straight line, and difficult periods can happen even after significant progress. Having connections to people who know your story may give you another place to turn when you need encouragement or simply want to share an accomplishment.

Treatment is an important chapter, but recovery is ultimately about creating a life that extends beyond the walls of a treatment center. For some alumni, that may mean rebuilding relationships, returning to school or work, developing healthier routines, or rediscovering interests that became less important during active addiction.

Remaining connected to an alumni community can become one part of that ongoing process. It can also provide opportunities to celebrate the ordinary moments that make recovery worthwhile, from reaching another year of sobriety to simply enjoying a weekend without the presence of substances.

Completing treatment is not the end of your story. It can be the beginning of a different chapter, one shaped by the choices, relationships, and experiences you build along the way. Newton Recovery Center’s alumni program offers former clients an opportunity to stay connected and continue being part of a recovery community after treatment.

This place was an amazing time I was here for two weeks, the only complaint I have is that dinner was not very good, breakfast and lunch was typically amazing. They have their own food truck, mental health groups were small sizes and personalized to your needs.

The Recovery Team (TRT) is a great place overall. It is what you make of it. You put in the work the place will put back into you. Patience is a key to success at TRT. Lean on the staff. They will go out their way their way for you if you go out the way for yourself. Be sure to make sure you get everything in writing from admissions. Admissions will over sale. But when you walk into the place it will take some adjustments but it can feel like home. Good luck to you in your recovery.
